Bird Boxes for 2013
Michael and Rose Williams came on 27 February. It was a chilly but beautifully sunny day – just the weather for putting up a number of new bird boxes along the edge of one of the fields which belong to the Marina. All the bird boxes are fully recorded – date, number, height from ground, direction the entry/exit hole faces, tree species the box is on and three other tree species close by.
This is all sent off to the British Trust for Ornithology to add to the database and, as the boxes are checked over the spring and summer, information fed in about use, bird species, successful nesting etc.
The accumulated information from the multiple sources then means the BTO advice on nest boxes always reflects the latest experience of those in the field.
