David Bellamy Conservation Award 2012

David Bellamy’s Gold Award has been given to us for the second year running for the work we are doing to “protect and enhance Britain’s natural environment”.

This is a wonderful accolade and huge credit goes to the Marina Partners who have made the environmental aspects of the Marina a real priority, to David Boddy for all his expert guidance, constant hands-on work and leadership, to Stuart Reeves and other members of the ground staff, to Jules and her group of Volunteers and to our wildlife experts – Michael, Rose and Steve for all their advice and help in creating the habitats to attract the wildlife.

Philip Knight (David Bellamy Conservation Award Scheme) visited Mercia Marina on 12 June 2012 and spent a great deal of time touring the whole site, talking to David Boddy and others about the wildlife (flora and fauna), the development plans and the environmental  and conservation concerns. He was impressed with the progress over the previous twelve months.

He made plenty of notes which were to be the subject of discussion and consultation back at the Scheme’s offices and said we would be told the outcome and decision in September/October.
