Ladybirds Photographed in 2012
There are 46 species of ladybirds in the UK and, with its varied habitats, the marina should have a good few of them. Whilst they’re easy to see and photograph, identifying the species does need care since – even within one species – the colour and number of spots can vary, there can be fused spots and a melanic variation.
These pictures were all taken in 2012 and are, at least, a start on listing our species. There is a 2 spot, 7 spot, 14 spot, Harlequins and a cream spot. And the larva from a 7 spot.
