Litter Picking on the Towpath
The Volunteer Group (with plastic bags, pickers and good gloves) headed out onto the Towpath between the Marina and Willington, going into the little wood and scrambling through the hedges. Plastic bags soon filled and, thanks to the courtesy of a passing boat from the Marina, some of the more unwieldy rubbish, such as a metal pole and an old fishing umbrella, went off down to the skip at Willington. The towpath and wood are looking increasingly tidy with the repeated attentions from the Volunteer Group. But it is winter so there are less people using the area.
It was all good exercise in good company with the satisfaction of knowing that a positive difference had been made to ‘our’ part of the towpath.
