Nathusius Pipistrelle

Steve Roe, Derbyshire Bat Conservation Group, has continued his visits to Marina. He installed an Anabat on Mike Coates’ boat (see picture). This recorded a Nathusius Pipistrelle – an excellent record since these are migratory bats and the Bat Conservation Trust is very keen to know of formal sightings (hearings?!).

The results mean that of the 11 bat species recorded in Derbyshire, the Marina (through Steve) has recorded seven species over this time. They come to forage, then returning to their roosts under bridges or in trees and old buildings.
